Psychiatric Diagnostic Assessment

At Tethered Healing, Dr. Samadhi provides virtual comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic assessments to Colorado and California residents as well as anyone living in the 42-PsyPACT approved states (https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap).

Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations assist in clarifying a variety of diagnoses including PTSD, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Eating Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, and other mental and emotional health diagnoses. A client's unique history and current needs are taken into consideration when determining the assessments used.

Please note, we do not provide worker’s compensation evaluations or forensic interviews for justice-involved persons.

The Tethered Healing Approach to Assessments

At Tethered Healing, we prioritize a strengths-based, trauma-informed, & culturally humble approach to diagnostic assessments. We find the relationship between provider and patient is an essential component of healing and is just as important during a diagnostic assessment.

We know that assessments can feel scary and activating. During your assessment, you'll be treated with dignity, respect, and special attunement to how your nervous system is responding to each question. We will work in a way that feels paced to your specific nervous system and deploy somatic tools, if needed, to support a sense of safety and regulation. Since the assessment is done virtually, you’ll have the added benefit of doing the assessment from the comfort of your own home.

We focus on taking a collaborative decision-making approach. Dr. Samadhi will listen to your concerns, questions, and needs. Together, we will decide on the plan for assessments including what is needed for a proper differential diagnosis.

Additionally, we often find that patients benefit from an integrative approach to assessment. As part of the optional report, we will offer our suggestions for treatment pathways for any positive findings revealed by the assessment.

Benefits of Psychiatric Diagnostic Assessments

Although psychiatric diagnoses can be limiting in their ability to fully capture the breadth of a person’s experience and uphold a pathological rather than holistic perspective, there can be several benefits of receiving a thorough diagnostic assessment. If you’ve been struggling with a variety of symptoms and feel confused about what is happening and how to work on it, psychiatric assessments can be helpful in:

  • Providing clarity about what is occurring and not occurring with regards to mental health and mental illness

  • Provide a direction for treatment options including recommended psychotherapy and holistic paths

  • Normalizing and legitimizing what you’ve been struggling with
